Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) is Nigeria's first dedicated maritime university, focused on training professionals for the blue economy, shipping, and waterways in the Niger Delta region. Located in Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA, Delta State, it sits on the Escravos River for strategic maritime access. NMU was approved by Nigeria's Federal Executive Council in May 2015, with groundbreaking by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 and NUC approval for degree programs in 2018.
