The University of Antwerp (Universiteit Antwerpen) is a prominent institution of higher education located in Antwerp, Belgium. It was officially established in 2003 through the merger of three smaller institutions: the Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen (UFSIA), the Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen (RUCA), and the Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen (UIA). The university is recognized by the Flemish Government of Belgium and operates under the supervision of the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).
