Kiel University (CAU) is Schleswig-Holstein's oldest, largest, and best-known university, founded in 1665. It is the only comprehensive university in the state, offering 190 degree programs across various faculties. The university has a rich history with seven Nobel Prize winners associated with it and has been participating in the Excellence Competition since 2006. With approximately 24,500 students and around 3,700 staff members, it is a significant institution in Germany.
