The DST-NRF Centre of Excellence for Invasion Biology (C·I·B) is headquartered at Stellenbosch University and is renowned as the world’s most productive research and training unit in invasion science. Established in 2004, the C·I·B focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of biological invasions, addressing issues such as biodiversity conservation, environmental change, and various socio-economic impacts. The center aims to provide scientific understanding and predictive capabilities to reduce the rates and impacts of biological invasions through interdisciplinary research and post-graduate student training.
